Sectionals or sofas are ordinary types of seating found in
living rooms, family rooms and dens. Unlike a conventional sofa, sectionals are
made of multiple freestanding pieces that can be reorganized in a
number of different positions.
Because of this a sectional sofa
is a more flexible seating solution than the common sofa or couch.
The make-up of a sectional varies in different styles and function.
In most cases, sectional couches are two sofas that are set to form a perfect ninety-
degree angle. This layout became popular during the 1950s and still continues being a
favorite for family room or like settings.
Many sectional couches today are sets of four to seven pieces that may be laid out in a number of ways. For the most part, these pieces will include a seat cushion as well as a back cushion.
One or two pieces will include an armrest on the left or right side.
Since you can use these pieces to create everything from a single long
seating area to the traditional L shaped sectional, this is very attractive to the majority of people.
As well as having the capacity to create numerous seating arrangements with
the use of a sectional couch or sofa, this type of furniture can also
be very practical. It is very easy to move around individual pieces, than to move around a heavy single three or four seater sofa. People who tend to live in apartment buildings find
that sectionals will usually fit through entry way doors with more ease, and are less likely to have trouble transporting when the apartment is on a top floor.
While the designs and fabric options for sectionals used to be
somewhat limited, it is possible today to enjoy colors and styles that
will work well with any style.
There are sectionals available in leather, fiber blends, and even
natural fibers. Colors range from solids to wild patterns.
Styles range from practical to elaborate. Sectional that are
designed especially for high traffic rooms, as well as formal rooms
that see limited usage are on the market as well. There are even
sectional couches that are equipped with cushion that can be wiped
down with simple soap and water.
From a cost perspective, sectional couches are generally available in
the same price range as any good quality sofa.
For anyone who wants seating options that can be utilized
in different forms and functions, has a high level of comfort, and is easy
to transport, sectional couches are well worth considering and investing in.
